The gold is added through an ancient Korean process called kuem boo, where 24 carat gold foil is bonded to the silver using heat.  This layer of gold is much thicker than plating or vermeil, and is pemanently fused to the silver.
 
They are part of my zero waste collection - making use of my otherwise unusable silver offcuts.  I melt down and reform them with hammering, rolling and heating to achieve the textured organic feel.  It is a physical process and I love the final, timeless effect that looks like they could have been around for centuries.
 
With a 5cm drop from the top of the ear wire to bottom of the drop, these are lovely mid to large sized earrings and will come presented in a recycled soft grey box with gold foil stamped logo - perfect for gifting.
